There seems to be very few of us that are not amazed by the beautiful dolphins. I recently came across a video taken at SeaWorld that someone posted on Youtube. Just in case you might have missed this, please take the time to view this video and watch the dolphins at SeaWorld Orlando’s Dolphin Cove, and hear what SeaWorlds trainers, educators and guests have to say about this remarkable new feat. I think it will be a pleasant experience!
Hooray for Sanibel!
Bicycling just got safer on Sanibel! Thank you Sanibel.
After many, many bike rides along Sanibel Captiva Road on the way to Captiva, I am ecstatic to have a more safe and pleasureable ride. Thank you Sanibel for increasing the safety of my ride and for all bicyclists. I no longer have to worry about leaving my helmet hanging on the low lying tree branch.
Guest to Guest: Alan N. Hall, retired educator, Hopkinton, N.H.
After serving in the Navy during World War II, Alan Hall was a teacher and administrator at schools in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and at St. Paul’s Academy in Concord, N.H. Some of his more famous students included presidential candidate John Kerry, FBI director Robert Mueller, professional poker player Annie Duke, and Frank Griswold, the retired presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church. One day, Alan and his late wife, Merry, took Jackie Onassis and her son, young John Kennedy, to lunch in the school dining room.
Q. What is your best helpful hint for newly arriving Ocean’s Reach guests?
A. Keep the map showing the buildings, the garages spaces and the unit numbers, so you can avoid parking errors.
Q. What would you spend your first $10 vacation mad money on in Sanibel?
A. Buying alligator and manatee postcards and stamps to send to friends and relatives back home.
Q. What are your top three activities on Sanibel?
A. Beach walking, talking with family members I don’t often see at home, and eating at restaurants.
Q. What’s best about the new Ocean’s Reach?
A. The plantings all over the place: Great shrubs, flowers and trees.
Q. What would we be most surprised to know about you?
A. If I told you, I’d have to kill you (or myself!).
Q. With your resources and means, why do you select Ocean’s Reach as your annual vacation destination?
Q. I get to see other family members I do not readily see at home; they live at a distance, but that shrinks when we are here with time to catch up on family matters.
On Palm Sunday Christians celebrate the Triumphal Entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday.
The Bible reveals that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him with waving palm branches, and by covering his path with palm branches. Immediately following this great time of celebration in the ministry of Jesus, he begins his journey to the cross.
Celebrate Palm Sunday at one of the many churches on Sanibel and Captiva Islands: Chapel By The Sea, Captiva; St. Isabel Catholic Church; Sanibel Community Church; Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ; and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
Pictured below is Heather Cisowski, daughter of Lisa and Ed. She is a top ten ranked junior player in the mid west region of the country. Heather is 13 years old and played twice with Andy on her recent stay at Ocean’s Reach.
Needless to say Andy was not victorious and moved slowly on the 3rd day.
The tennis court at Ocean’s Reach was rebuilt recently and has been proclaimed by many as being the finest hard surface court on Sanibel Island. We are lucky to have this wonderful court for such talented players as Heather to play on.
