Congratulations to our contest winner, Carol Martin! Carol speedily posted the correct answer, Billy Kirkland of Sanibel Segway and Billy’s Rentals, and is the winner of an Ocean’s Reach beach towel.
Billy is a busy “man around town” on Sanibel. Today he spent hours loading and unloading all kinds of bicycles for Ocean’s Reach guests. Bicycles are rented on the premises of Ocean’s Reach and are conveniently parked in each rider’s car port. Bicycle pathway maps are available in the Guest Services office.
Explore the islands on two wheels. There’s no better way to get around town!

Our mystery man bicycles over 100 miles each week throughout Fort Myers and Sanibel-Captiva. He is 60 years old and keeps up with bicyclists 10 years his junior. In short, he is a bicycle maniac, riding the same make of bicycle that Floyd Landis of Tour de France fame rides.
He was actively involved in the rebuilding of Ocean’s Reach during post-hurricane Charley and is on our premises weekly. Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, he claims it is still one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Who is he?
Jerry Ifka!! Every Ocean’s Reach owner’s good friend yet not recognizable in his racing clothes to our blog subscribers.
Stay tuned for more opportunities for everybody to win Ocean’s Reach tees, towels and more.
Get lucky! Who is this local leprechaun? Be the first to post a comment with the correct answers for this leprechaun’s first and last name AND his company name. A gorgeous Ocean’s Reach beach towel awaits your arrival.
Here’s a clue: He was spotted at Bailey’s Shopping Center on St. Patrick’s Day at Sanibel’s Irish Fest handing out candy and kisses! Crowds gathered for their share of corned beef, Baileys Irish Cream, green beer, Celtic music and dance and loads of family activities. Another great way to spend a holiday on Sanibel Island!!
Discovery from the Golf Course at Lexington Country Club, Fort Myers
Sunday night, was a real eye popper as the participants of the “Barbara’s Friends” Charity Golf Tournament were treated to a spectacle in the sky from the Discovery launch in Cape Canaveral, Florida. What an amazing sight to behold. It lit up the sky at around 7:30 p.m. with an outburst of cheering from the spectators!
“Barbara’s Friends” is a well-known charity dedicated to cancer research and care in Fort Myers and led by Barbara’s father, Frank Haskins.
He’s a real fixture around Ocean’s Reach.
Post your comment with his first and last name AND the name of the company he represents. The first person to post a comment with the correct answers will win a FREE OCEAN’S REACH BEACH TOWEL that will await their next arrival.
Check back to the blog on Saturday for the correct answer and more about our mystery man at Ocean’s Reach!
Here’s a close up photo of my new friend, the banjo man–Tad Greene. Again, on a run down the beach about 1 1/2 miles east from Ocean’s Reach, I heard a great concert of blue grass music. Head on down around 5:30 p.m. and look for this man. He’d love to have an audience or have you play along. He also takes requests. Are there any other blue grass fans out there?
