The Herb Strauss Schoolhouse Theater is Sanibel’s professional playhouse offering Broadway caliber talent in an intimate setting. Located on Periwinkle Way, it is just minutes from Ocean’s Reach. Today, our Chamber luncheon was entertained by 5 great performers from “The 70’s Show”. Do you remember “It’s Raining Men” and “YMCA”??? This troupe will have you dancing in the aisles. Please go see it on Wednesdays or Saturdays until August 14. Take a groovy trip through the 70’s. It’s my kind of music!
There is a special Gulf side park that borders Ocean’s Reach on the east side. It’s called Algiers by the locals because of the old steamboat of the same name that once was pulled ashore to be a house. It’s a wonderful spot for picnics. The tables are shaded by a grove of trees, and boardwalks offer a comfortable access to the beach. This beach is a well-kept secret, hard to find but worth it. It offers restrooms, picnic tables and paid parking. It is nestled against dense pines, and is a prime location for finding unusual egg casings and other remnants of sea life. A treasure to discover located right next door to Ocean’s Reach!
Tracy, a recent guest at Ocean’s Reach sent a few photos from their Sanibel vacation to share and it looks as if they were all having a fun time!!
“We stayed at Oceans Reach June 12-19. This was our first time to Sanibel and had a wonderful time. These are some of our photos from our photo shoot the second to last night of our stay. All 23 of our family members were able to come and would all come back again”.
Sanibel shells really do come in all shapes and sizes, and this guest appears to have found most of them. This is a very artistic display depicting some serious shelling. Nice work!
Think about coming our way and see for yourself the abundance of beautiful shells on the beach in front of Ocean’s Reach!
Thank you to Representative Connie Mack for his support in protecting the beaches and natural resources of Southwest Florida. Mack stated that this national crisis demands a chain of command and he urges the President to deploy every resource necessary to protect our wildlife and our livelihoods.
Mack held a news conference at the Sanibel Fishing Pier and entertained questions from the local media and island residents and business owners.
An excursion with Andy as he bicycled to the ribbon cutting for the opening of Billy’s Creek Preserve. The preserve offers nearly two miles recreational pathway through the preserve with stops for reading the educational signboards and sitting to observe.
It is an oasis located in the outskirts of east downtown Fort Myers. Another great day trip from Ocean’s Reach on Sanibel!
