Sunday, March 21st, I went to see the Sox play the Houston Astros at the City of Palms Park in Fort Myers. Red Sox fans are numerous, loyal and very supportive, as all spring games, as well as all home games in Boston, are sell outs. It is a special feeling to watch a game in March knowing that there could still be snow on the ground back in New England.
Shown are Ortiz at bat, Pedroia rounding third after hitting a home run and Lester on the mound.
A great day at the ball park!
This Sunday’s excursion is sadly, one you will have to wait a year to enjoy yourself. The City of Palms Park in Ft. Myers is unfortunately only used by a major league during the month of March and is not used by a minor league in the summer. The Park is a must, especially when the Sox are playing. It is beautifully lined with palm trees that make a very attractive backdrop, and there are concession stands along with a very nice gift shop if you should need a refreshment or souvenir. Well worth planning for your next year’s March schedule.
