This young lady had indeed spotted another one of the islands near Sanibel. We hope it is the famous Cabbage Key awaiting with their wonderful burgers along with their other treasures! Just don’t forget your dollar bill for the restaurant wall!

These girls are off on an exciting Sanibel adventure with rented waverunners to Cayo Costa State Park for some serious shelling, and what a way to go!! “You Only Live Once Watersports” located on Captiva Island has all sorts of boat rentals including waverunners with experienced guides to take you on a variety of cruises. The new program recently started at the Bailey-Mathews Shell Museum, “Children Play…Parents May…” is proving to be quite a success. The following letter is from one satisfied Ocean’s Reach family, along with pictures to prove it.
I wanted to get back with you with a report about the program that Diane Thomas has started at the Shell Museum. We took Hannah (8) and Braden (6) to Tuesday’s program. They are both relatively independent and social, so we had few worries about how they would handle the newness.
They did great, thanks to Diane’s well-organized plans for crafts, songs, and education. At 11:30, when we picked up the kids, Braden said, “I wish this could be our school.” Say no more, huh?
Anyway, please have no reservations about recommending Diane’s program to other Ocean’s Reach patrons. By copy of this e-mail to her, I am also saying “Many thanks” for the initiative and enthusiasm.
We referred the program to a couple from New York today, while visiting on a trolley ride.
Well done, Diane.

This is the “Adventures in Paradise” trolley that picks guests up at Ocean’s Reach on Sanibel Island and transports them over the Causeway Bridge to a local marina for a wonderful, tranquil sunset cruise and many other opportunities. The Sanibel Trolley schedule is available online at their website.
“Adventures in Paradise” offer many different packages to suit all interests and have specials going on frequently. They have also just recently opened “Outfitters to the Outsiders” store on Sanibel Island at the Tahitian Gardens shopping center. So stop in and and give them a welcome!
Stacey Monnar vacations every summer at Ocean’s Reach on Sanibel Island with her family. This year she ran an aerobic boot camp each morning at 8:00 for her sister-in-law and friends.
The boot camp routine consisted of early morning lap swims in the pool, sprints down Camino del Mar and aerobics in “The Grove”.
Stacy is Terry Byrns’ daughter. Great idea Stacy, I’m sure there are many who wish they could join you!
A short while back, lovely family joined us at Ocean’s Reach for a memorable vacation. In the days to come we intend to share some of their wonderful experiences with all of our readers, but in the meantime, Lauren and Julia, their twin daughters would like to challenge our blog readers. As their mother explained in a portion of her letter,
“We also had a very memorable dinner at Jacaranda, the food was outstanding. While waiting for our dinner to be served, we played the following word game: How many words can we find/make using the letters from the words “Oceans Reach Pool”? With just a little help from Mom and Dad, the answer was 93! And you can see all 93 on the attached document – a scan of the children’s menu from Jacaranda, on which we played the game.
Anyway, Lauren and Julia would like to issue a challenge, perhaps via the blog, to see how many additional words can be found. The rules are easy, just use the letters from “Oceans Reach Pool”. If the letter only appears once in these words, you can only use it one in your word answer. Knowing how intelligent the owners and guests of Oceans Reach are, we expect that we can go much higher than 93 words!”
So what do you think? Can we come up with a few more words to help out the girls? Let’s here from everyone!!
I found this extraordinary video on “Sanibel Toot’s Lazy Days” blog of a Loggerhead Turtle hatchling making it’s way to the Gulf. Just wanted to make sure all of our viewers see this. Toot’s also reminds us that when we leave the beach at the end of the day during nesting season, to be sure and smooth away any sand sculptures that could hinder the little turtles on their journey. Be sure and stop by Toot’s blog to thank her for her amazing video and enjoy all of her wonderful photos.
