The Great Blue Heron out for a walk in front of Ocean’s Reach. Did you know that this bird has a wingspan of six feet when in flight? It really is quite a thrill to see one as they are flying overhead! In fact, the Great Blue is the largest heron and the most widespread heron in the United States. How lucky we are to be able to view these birds so closely.
On my bike ride late Saturday afternoon I rode through the Ding Darling Preserve to see if any of our winter residents have arrived. The first White Pelican of the season for me was seen along with a Wood Stork and Roseate Spoonbills. I also stopped to take a picture of the Bald Eagles in their nest on SanCap Road.
