Sanibel Island has clinched the 15th spot on Expedia’s second annual list of 50 top-rated destinations in North America.
“Sanibel has consistently offered world class beaches, shelling, shopping, biking, fishing, and dining, but our sustainable initiatives and undisturbed natural environment is truly what sets us apart,” said Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce President John Lai. “Sanibel truly offers the complete package for families of all seasons of life.”
Visitors fall in love with the island for all those reasons — from the peaceful J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge to the more than 25 miles of bicycle pathways and unique shops. Chosen destinations received at least 600 reviews and Sanibel rose to the top of more than 4,600 reviewed cities. It’s joined by Key West as the only two cities in Florida on the list.
“To be one of only two Florida destinations chosen in the top 15 of Expedia’s Top Rated Vacation Destinations in North America is quite an honor but as anyone who is fortunate to have vacationed on Sanibel would attest, it is well deserved,” said Mr. Lai.
