Congratulations! You have made a decision to vacation on Sanibel Island at the beautiful Ocean’s Reach. Your travel plans are confirmed. Now it is time to pack your bags and tie up all those last minute travel plans. Let us help by answering the most popular travel questions asked by Ocean’s Reach guests.

I will be arriving late. How will I get into my condo?

What should I pack? What is provided in the condo?

I will be arriving late. How will I get into my condo?

Guests who arrive past 4:00 p.m. will find a letter with their name on it attached to the front door of the Ocean’s Reach Guest Services office. This letter will have the guest’s condominium #, car port # and map directing the guest to their condo.

The condo front door will be unlocked and the outside light will be turned on. Once inside, guests will find a welcome kit with a condo key attached.

What should I pack? What is provided in the condo?

Very Simply. . . .pack simply. We recommend that you spend as much of your time enjoying your beach vacation on the beach instead of packing and unpacking. Remember that each condo is equipped with its own washer and dryer and fully supplied for your convenience with fresh linens, bath and dish towels, soap and detergent, paper towels, tissues, hair dryer, toilet paper and beach chairs.

What you will need to bring is beach towels, sunscreen and bathing suits.

Are there any additional charges or fees?

Your quoted rental rate includes all charges so that there are no additional hidden costs or surprise fees. For example, parking and cleaning costs are included as well as all the services, amenities and condo linens and supplies that we have listed above. Please know that there is an additional 11% state sales tax that is charged on your quoted rental rate. A toll charge of $6 is charged for each vehicle that enters Sanibel.

Should you request additional cleaning of linens and/or new linens during your one week stay, there will be an additional linen charge.

What time is check in and check out?

Check in is at 3:00 p.m. on your scheduled day of arrival. Please call ahead to see if we can accommodate an earlier check in for you. Check out is by 10:00 a.m. on your scheduled day of departure. Please drop off in our drop box or Guest Services office all condo keys and bike rental keys prior to leaving.

I have a balance due on my account. When do I pay that?

You may call prior to your arrival and pay by credit card over the phone or send a payment by check. Final payment is due 30 days upon arrival. A detailed payment schedule is listed on your confirmation letter. Ocean’s Reach accepts MC, Visa, travelers checks, personal checks and cash.

What parking arrangements are available?

Each condominium and apartment has an assigned parking space adjacent to and/or opposite the condominium buildings. All parking spaces are covered. Additional parking spaces are available for additional guests adjacent to the championship tennis court.


Are beach chairs and umbrellas provided with my condo rental?

Beach chairs are provided within each condo. Beach umbrellas are not included but may be rented from Ocean’s Reach Guest Services for $25/week or $8/day. Sorry, quantities are limited and we are not able to accept advance reservations. Please rent umbrellas upon check in.


Are bicycles available for rent on the premises?

Yes. Bicycles are conveniently located on our resort premises and available for rent at $35/week and $15/day. Special bicycle needs for toddlers, tandem riders, and advanced cyclists are also available from Ocean’s Reach by calling ahead of your cycling day. Special bicycles will have additional rental fees. Please have cash or personal check available for payment upon pick up at Guest Services.

Each bicycle comes available with basket, lock and helmet. They can be stored in the Ocean’s Reach bike racks or under the car port by your car during your vacation stay.
Ocean’s Reach is directly located on the Sanibel Island bike and recreational path.

As quantities are limited we request that you call Guest Services at 800-336-6722 or email beach@oceansreach.com to place reservations for bicycle rentals of four or more. We will have your bicycle reservation ready for you upon your arrival. Bicycles are a great way to explore Sanibel Island for all ages. Happy Trails!

What is your deposit and cancellation policy?

The non-winter reservation deposit is $500. The winter reservation deposit is $1,000. Deposits are payable to Ocean’s Reach within seven days of the guest reservation. Final payment is due no later than thirty days from the arrival date. Deposits and final payments can be made with MC, Visa, cash or check.

If a reservation is cancelled sixty days or more before the arrival date, all monies paid towards the reservation will be fully refunded.

If a reservation is cancelled within sixty days of the arrival date, the cancellation policy allows for a refund of all monies paid towards the reservation once the reserved condo has been rebooked for the same time period and the same rental fee. All refunds are paid to the guest via a check within thirty days of the reservation cancellation or rebooking of the reservation.

Trip Cancellation Insurance is available through Ocean’s Reach for a minimal cost of 7% of the entire rental fee (including tax.) Where are you located on the island? Can you give me directions from the causeway?


Ocean’s Reach is located directly on the Sanibel beach at 3 ½ miles northwest of the Sanibel lighthouse. We are a secluded complex only accessible from Casa Ybel Drive and off a side street called Algiers. The Ocean’s Reach complex is adjacent to Algiers Beach (Gulfside City Park) on Algiers St.

Can you give me suggestions for picking up groceries?

Many of our guests will plan their grocery needs ahead of their arrival by stopping in Fort Myers at a Publix, Winn Dixie or Albertson’s. There are many located along the way to Sanibel Island from the airport. Once on Sanibel, there are two full service grocery stores that are easily accessible by car or bicycle. Bailey’s is located at Bailey’s Center at Periwinkle Way and Tarpon Bay Road. For “Sanibel’s Complete Shopping Experience”, Jerry’s of Sanibel is located at Periwinkle Way and Casa Ybel Road. I need to rent a crib. Do I order that through Ocean’s Reach?

Please contact Island Rental Services directly at 239-472-9789 and set up payment and arrival time. They will deliver directly to your condo, set up and pick up from your condo upon departure.


What if I need assistance with something in my condo? Who do I call?

Please contact Ocean’s Reach Guest Services at 239-472-4554 as soon as possible so that we can accommodate your needs quickly. Our Guest Services office is open Monday thru Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – Noon. They are located on site and therefore able to assist on the spot with vacation trip planning, condo repairs and missing equipment. With a smile!

What is red algae? How will that affect my vacation plans at Ocean’s Reach?

Unfortunately, red algae is a natural phenomenon that can wash ashore on the barrier islands of Florida, including Sanibel Island. It is more unpredictable than the direction of our tropical breeze and can wash ashore and back to the Gulf of Mexico on the same day. Ocean’s Reach is very concerned about the vacation pleasure of our guests and their access to and recreation on our beach. They have been an advocate for beach cleaning and removal of the algae from the beaches. If our beach is affected by red algae, you will be directed to an unaffected beach on the island. Further—and more importantly-- the Sanibel City Council has listened to the concerns of our guests, Sanibel residents and Ocean’s Reach and have responded by recommending that a beach algae removal plan be in place by October 1, 2007. Do you accommodate pets?

I’m sorry that Ocean’s Reach does not accept pets of any kind or at any time in its condos or on its grounds. Please call Guest Services so that we may help you with kennel arrangements off the island Island.

Is smoking permitted in the condos and on the lanai?

Ocean’s Reach is a non-smoking resort. For the health and pleasure of each guest, smoking is not permitted in the condos, building corridors, pool area and on the lanais. Smoking is permitted only on the beach and grounds away from the buildings.
A minimum additional condo cleaning/damage charge of $100 will be assessed to any guest for their violation of our non-smoking policy.
