Fenway South

Around these parts, the month of March means trying to catch every Spring Training game you can!  With another Spring Training season winding down, we thought we’d dedicate our blog to our two “hometown” teams this week, with a post on the Boston Red Sox today and the Minnesota Twins tomorrow.

Fort Myers has been the Spring Training home of the Boston Red Sox since 1993. In 2012, the gorgeous JetBlue Park — better known as “Fenway South” — opened a mile east of Interstate 75. The field dimensions are identical to those at Fenway Park in Boston, including a 37-foot Green Monster wall in left field. Included in the wall is a restored version of the manual scoreboard that was housed at Fenway Park for almost 30 years, beginning in the 1970s.

As Boston fans through-and-through, Andy and his niece Lee Ellen caught a game this season and were also treated to a photo op near the 2004 Commissioner’s Trophy on display. Red Sox fans will easily remember the pure euphoria that year as Boston captured their first World Series championship in 86 years!

If catching a Red Sox game is on your bucket list, batter up and make plans today to come enjoy Spring Training season at Ocean’s Reach next March!
