Up, Up, On a Wave

Kiteboarding is becoming a very popular sport and you are apt to see it happening almost anywhere there is a large body of water, and a good on-shore wind. Most of the bording is done on ocean shorelines, large lakes and even on rivers. A kiteboarder uses a board with or without foot-straps or bindings, along with a harness attached to a kite that uses the power of the wind to propell him or her through the water. It is a difficult sport and takes a lot of practice and a lot of strength. Professional instruction is reccommeded to insure the safety of the boarder and also others.

The following pictures of a kiteboarder in action were taken on Sunday the 22nd of February, 2009 form the Causeway Bridge between Sanibel and Fort Myers.
