Guest to Guest: Alan N. Hall, retired educator, Hopkinton, N.H.
 After serving in the Navy during World War II, Alan Hall was a teacher and administrator at schools in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and at St. Paul's Academy in Concord, N.H. Some of his more famous students included presidential candidate John Kerry, FBI director Robert Mueller, professional poker player Annie Duke, and Frank Griswold, the retired presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church. One day, Alan and his late wife, Merry, took Jackie Onassis and her son, young John Kennedy, to lunch in the school dining room.

What's new to do on Sanibel?
 Sanibel Thriller Cruises are making waves and receiving rave reviews from our guests. High-speed (but quiet) yachts tour the islands for close-ups of dolphins, exotic birds and other wildlife.
Nothing says a Florida vacation like palm trees. Catch a breeze with the new rows of royal palms planted along Summerlin Drive, welcoming you to the causeway islands of Sanibel-Captiva.
Brand new on Sanibel is the Sunday Farmer's Market at Tahitian Gardens on Periwinkle Way. Take a backpack and ride your bike for fresh veggies, homemade goodies and succulent Florida fruit from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Check out the new Twilight Café, Sweet Melissa's, Il Tesoro and Mermaid Café. Prepare “Our World Famous Broccoli” from Twilight Café on one of our three outdoor gas grills:
Blend red onion with equal parts soy sauce and red wine vinegar with 3 parts vegetable oil. Marinate 4 hours. Grill at the Ocean's Reach Grove and enjoy!
You'll be wowed at the new CROW (Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife) Visitor Educational Center. This state- of-the-art facility has many photos, a live web cam into the clinic and interactive displays of Sanibel's wildlife and CROW's veterinarian rescue, care and rehab facilities. Admission is a $5 donation. Open Tuesday – Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sanibel Captiva Road.
Bob Wigley Preserve on Casa Ybel is now open to the public. Explore trails to a gazebo, interpretive site, and bird feeding and nesting areas along the Sanibel River.
What's new at Ocean's Reach?
The new beautiful palms that gracefully line Camino del Mar are gifts of friends and owners of Ocean's Reach. We've paid tribute to each of them with a granite monument placed in the grove area adjacent to the street. Please take a moment to read these tributes to our very special friends during your next visit!

 Our new pond is attracting birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts and nature photographers. You can see blue winged teal, great white egret, snowy egret, coot, moorhen, little green heron, and more each day.
Our new accessible beach walkway is complete and so easy to use.
New linens include heftier and fluffier towels that are more absorbent and softer next to your skin.
The shuffleboard court and tennis court have been power cleaned for your playing pleasure.
