Jacaranda Restaurant Welcomes New Chef
The Jacaranda Restaurant, winner of 40 Taste of the Islands Awards since 1998, welcomes a new executive chef in November 2007: Sander Bergstrom, who has worked with chefs in Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, southern Vermont and most recently western New York.
Born in Billings, Mont., and raised in Amherst, Mass., Bergstrom comes to Sanibel to be closer to his father and his father’s wife, year-round residents Ken and Clara Bergstrom.
One of Bergstrom’s favorite dishes to prepare is a seared prosciutto-wrapped filet mignon with porcini mushrooms and a port wine demi-glace, accompanied by roasted tri-color fingerling potatoes and sautéed broccoli rapi.
The Jacaranda’s menu features seafood, the busiest bar in town and a lush, enclosed patio with a raw bar serving shrimp, oysters, scallops, crab legs and stone crab. Live entertainment and dancing nightly. Visit jacarandaonsanibel.com or call (239) 472-1771.
