Ocean's Reach is a very well-managed, clean, quiet, attractive place appreciated by our VIP guests. It's beautiful beach front location with large balconies is a perfect atmosphere for relaxing, writing or reading. The staff is exceptionally hospitable and non-intrusive.

Honestly, I almost hate to write a review -- I don't want Ocean's Reach to get booked up for next year!
What a treat to have everything better than expected, with no hassles all week, no extra fees, no snags, and the staff being helpful at all times.
Our 2 bedroom condo (unit 1D1) was just as pictured on the website. On their website, you can click on a particular unit, and it will show multiple photos of the interior. There are also completely accurate photos of the pool, proximity to beach, etc.

Our condo was quite well-equipped (even things like martini glasses, a cocktail shaker, laundry detergent, etc. were all there). Each unit has its own assigned parking space, and there was never any problem with that. The bikes that we rented on-site were waiting for us by our parking space and were sized as requested for adults & kids. Bikes can be left at the end of the week (no need to return them to the bike rental place), so it couldn't be easier. From the number of cars in the parking space, the units were almost completely booked -- yet it never seemed crowded or noisy. Always lots of room on the beach, always a chair at the pool, never any noise heard at night (very peaceful!).

We were here with our 2 kids (11 & 8), and they had a great time -- lots of other kids at the pool, but it never seemed to get out of hand or crazy (lots of adults sunning and reading their books while kids swam). We also played basketball (yes, the condo even provides the basketball!) and shuffleboard, and of course spent a lot of time on the beach (yes, each unit has beach chairs). The beach was beautiful at both sunrise and sunset, lots of nice shells, no red algae problem whatsoever. And never crowded at all on the beach.

Some other tips for around the area: we went to a spring training game (go Twins!), biked, and visited the "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge on 2 days. We hit all the casual family places (so no tips on romantic dinner spots, unfortunately!). We liked Island Cow (the world's best chocolate milkshakes, and this is coming from a resident of the dairy state!), Bubble Room and Mucky Duck (both on Captiva), and The Hungry Heron. These places all had burgers, mac & cheese, etc. for the kids, but then my husband and I could get a nice piece of grilled fish, a salad, etc.
Can't say enough good about Ocean's Reach -- would highly recommend!

"Dear Ocean’s Reach,

My family and I have been coming down to Ocean’s Reach for 13 years—sometimes two times each year. Why do we come back to Ocean’s Reach so often?

The closeness of the beach to our condo makes everything simple and easy! I love having a familiar place to stay in because we already know where everything is in our condo and we can settle in quickly—allowing us to spend more time in the the pool and at the beach right outside our lanai door.

My next favorite thing is the bicycling. The extensive trail system makes the rides very entertaining. I always look forward to the exercise.

"We stayed here in February 2008 for 5 nights. Our 1BR unit was on the first floor with an unobstructed view of the the gulf. The unit was nicely appointed. We were told that most units were updated after Hurricane Charley in 2004. Ocean's Reach is a little more secluded than most of the other complexes (2 blocks in from Casa Ybel Road), but it is close enough to bike to stores and shops on Periwinckle. The complex has a tennis court, gas grills, basketball hoop, shuffleboard and a pool. We used the grills every day for lunch and dinner. The complex also has onsite bicycle rentals. The staff could not have been nicer.

While on Sanibel, I highly recommed taking a kayak tour on Tarpon Bay and through the mangroves. We had an unbelievable time. Also take a boat tour. We did this with Captiva Cruises."
