Surprise! This Sunday we are on Sanibel. Sometimes you really don’t have to travel far to have an enjoyable afternoon. Today I am enjoying a walk on the beach with two of my nieces.

We started on beach access two and headed towards Bowman’s Beach. Once past Rabbit Road, building codes only allow private, single family homes to be built. In many areas, it is like having your own private beach. We walked past the Hawaiian styled, thatched roof home which is 150 feet wide. I had a private tour with the builder back in 2005, and he explained that we was only 80% finished building and had already spent over 7 million in construction costs. This is just one of several beautiful homes in the area.

On the lower end of the housing spectrum we were able to also watch a pileated woodpecker make improvements to his home.

All in all it was a beautiful day, great exercise and most of all fine company!
