All Fluffed Up!
Hi Ocean’s Reach!
I wanted to say how much we enjoy our trips to Sanibel and Ocean’s Reach. We were there in mid-December and it was our fourth visit. On our first morning beach walk this year, we came across what I believe to be a Snowy Plover (photo attached). I always wanted to see this threatened bird and was thrilled to have the chance during this visit. Let’s hope the nesting season goes well for them this year. I just love all the access to wildlife Ocean’s Reach has to offer. My favorite thing to do is rent a bike and ride through the Bailey Tract looking for cool birds. I’m setting my sights for Sanibel Gardens on our next visit!
Sincerely,

This was my Mom’s favorite bird to look for on the shoreline near Algier’s Park next door. This is a great picture ofa Snowy Plover. Brings back many happy memories for me.

I love this picture! It seems as though each time we are lucky enough to be at Ocean’s Reach, nature gives us a special treat. This Christmas not only was the weather perfect, but while we were sitting on the beach enjoying the warm sunshine, the Snowy Plovers kept us company. I was amazed at how close they came to us; they, and their friends the Ruddy Turnstones (another of my favorites), went all around our chairs searching for tasty treats in the sand. Thanks so much for the picture which brought back a lovely memory!
