Tarpon Bay Explorers Looking Forward to Season

tarpon-bay-explorers-1

Our friends over at Tarpon Bay Explorers, the official concession to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, are excited for Sanibel Island’s “season” to begin.

Though challenges lay ahead with neighboring construction next year, Tarpon Bay Explorers will remain open throughout the course of the building of SCCF’s new Marine Lab on site.

“All of our tours and rentals will operate as normal as any other season,” said General Manager and part owner, Wendy Schnapp.

“Locals and visitors can rest assured that Tarpon Bay will be open! A lot of folks make a kayak trip or boat tour a tradition and it would be unfair to take that away from our visitors. But, just as importantly, continuing educating new visitors about the refuge is our number one priority and we are excited and grateful to be able to continue our mission,” elaborated assistant manager, Adam Sauerland.

If you’ve never kayaked through Commodore Creek’s winding mangrove forest or watched a beautiful sunset while hundreds of birds fly in to roost for the night, you’re in for a treat! Tarpon Bay Explorers makes the top of our “Must Do” list every year, and this upcoming season will be no exception.

Tarpon Bay Explorers is the one and only concessionaire to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, providing low-impact recreational activities along with educational, guided tours in which visitors can uniquely experience the refuge aboard a boat, kayak, paddleboard or tram. A portion of proceeds go right back to U.S. Fish & Wildlife for the care and protection of refuges all around the United States. For more information, or to make a reservation, call 1-239-472-8900.
